Description

CranioSacral Therapy is a series of gentle holds that communicate with the nervous system for profound benefits such as pain relief and reduced anxiety. The description below makes this treatment sound very complex, but it is actually very simple. It is a peaceful, passive session. The therapist's stationary touch brings the awareness of your nervous system into each area of the craniosacral network, allowing your body to unwind in its own way, at its own pace. It is performed fully clothed, so wear something comfortable. It pairs beautifully with TuiNa Massage for a revitalizing experience, booked back to back for an 80 minute treatment. The treatment has a few different components. The holds are placed in areas where bone structures attatch and connective tissue is abundant. For example, where your spine meets your pelvis, there is an array of fascia and muscle that is prone to becoming tight and possibly painful. The pelvic hold is designed to allow that tissue to decompress and find more ease in the joint. The second component relates to your craniosacral fluid, the dural tube within your spinal cord, and your cranial bones. The dural tube is the continuation of dura mater that surrounds and protects your brain. The dural tube houses your spinal cord and even branches off to house your nerves that the exit the vertebrae. The dural tube can get slightly twisted causing pain. The craniosacral holds can help it to unwind. Your cranial bones slightly expand and contract as the craniosacral fluid pumps around your dura mater and dural tube, creating your craniosacral rhythm. The second part of the session includes gentle holds focused on each cranial bone, giving them the chance to find ease and balance the craniosacral rhythm.
